Switchboard Upgrades
Older style switchboards aren’t designed to keep up with all the demands we place on them these days. Upgrading your switchboard to include built-in safety switches can help to keep your home safer by lowering the risk of fire and shock.
Smoke Alarms
Smoke alarms are vital to the safety of your family and your home. There are new legislations in Queensland that specify all dwellings will be required to have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms in all bedrooms, in hallways that connect bedrooms with the rest of the dwelling and on every level by 2027. Having interconnected alarms means when one alarm is activated, all alarms will sound. The extra time that gives you can make all the difference.
Lighting
Upgrading to LED lighting will make your home safer and your power bills lower. Old halogen downlights and spotlights can reach temperatures of over 370c and are the primary cause of house fires that begin inside your ceiling space. By upgrading those old fluorescent and halogen bulbs to LED, you can remove this danger and also modernise the look of your home in the process. There will also be the added bonus of reducing your power bill, as the LED lights use up to 80% less power.
Ceiling Fans
Ceiling fans not only keep you cool, but with the humid summers we experience in South East QLD, they can help prevent the growth of mould in your home by keeping the air circulating. If your fans are noisy, slow, wobble or if the metal blades are corroding in the salty air, contact us for a quote to upgrade to new rust free and quiet fans to help keep your home cool.
Power Points
We can add or upgrade your existing power points to have USB chargers and include wi-fi capable outlets that are compatible with home assistants (such as Alexa, Google Home and Siri) to turn appliances on or off.
Data & Telephone Outlets
With all the smart devices used around the home these days, it is common for Wi-Fi networks to become congested, causing slow internet speeds and streaming services to become unstable and break up or drop out. With a wired connection from your modem to the TV, this can be a thing of the past by allowing a high speed and stable internet connection that doesn’t depend on Wi-Fi network to work properly.
Fault Finding
We specialise in finding the cause of electrical faults. Whether it’s a tripping circuit breaker, safety switches, a blown fuse, flickering lights, tingles from taps or appliances, these things all point to a more serious problem. If these types of issues are not addressed, it could cause a loss of power or even serious injury from electrical shock.
Mains & Meter Box Upgrades
We can ensure your power supply is safe and make any recommendations for potential upgrades. A mains upgrade is the upgrade of the cables that go between your meter box and the main point of power supply (from the street).
Upgrades are done to increase the capacity of the home – this ensures a consistent and reliable power source. We use a lot more power today than we did even 10 years ago – with more homes having items that draw a lot of power, such as air conditioning, induction cooktops, pools, spas and more electrical appliances than ever before.
Many older homes were wired with smaller capacity cables because there simply wasn’t the demand for power that there is now. A mains upgrade ensures that your incoming cabling can handle the demands that today’s energy usage requires, while decreasing the risk of overloading the cables which can cause power failures and create a fire risk.
